The Challenges
The Challenge:
Limited Capacity
First Tee – Jersey Shore is facing an urgent challenge in Monmouth County: we simply do not have the capacity to meet the overwhelming demand from the community. Hundreds of kids are missing out each season on the chance to benefit from First Tee programs because of full classes and limited program space.
The data clearly shows families are eager for the opportunity to participate in First Tee. We’re committed to finding a way to say ‘yes’ to every child who wants to be part of
our program.
First Tee – Jersey Shore takes full advantage of all program locations offered to us, both public and private, but the need has consistently grown over the last 7 years with the explosion of interest in the game of golf.

The Challenge:
Limited Fairways for All Programs
Despite growing demand, our Fairways for All programs are hindered by a lack of dedicated, flexible golf and general instructional space that can be scheduled to meet the unique needs of underrepresented kids and families – many of whom face barriers related to transportation, availability and accessibility.
- Inability to accommodate nontraditional schedules such as evenings, weekends, and school breaks—times when many families are most available.
- Limited ability to scale up outreach efforts and serve more underrepresented kids
- Lack of a centralized & welcoming hub for kids which is crucial for building trust and creating a safe space
- Missed partnership opportunities with local schools and community outreach organizations due to space and scheduling limitations
The Challenge:
Weather Limitations Reduce Potential Impact
Unpredictable weather along the Jersey Shore often limits the number of classes and programs we can safely and effectively deliver.
- Fewer Playable Days: Rain, wind, and cold temperatures reduce outdoor class availability
- Interrupted Programming: Weather-related cancellations disrupt consistency needed to build skills and character through the First Tee curriculum.
- Limited Reach: Seasonal weather patterns force shorter program windows (April – October) restricting how many kids we can serve throughout the year.
